Welcome!
The Atikokan Amateur Radio Club is a hardy group of souls, young and old, who share
an interest in amateur radio. Most years we host a Basic licensing course, and have
trained over a dozen new operators in the past few years. We are also an active
member of the Town of Atikokan’s Emergency Measures plan, operating the EOC radio
station VA3EOA. In addition, we operate a club station, VE3YIB, and a repeater VE3RIB.
We built and maintain two digipeaters, VE3RIB-1 in Atikokan, and VE3RIB-2 in Flanders.
We operate the Winlink RMS Server VA3EOA-1, and WIRES-x Fusion node 50878.
Distracted Driving Exemptions
Unless driving in Nunavut, licensed amateur radio operators are exempt from distracted
driving regulations while operating an amateur radio in Canada. The attached file
contains excerpts for Ontario, Manitoba and Quebec, and a link to the other provinces.
We suggest you print this and keep a copy in your car, along with a copy of your
operating certificate.
